HOW DID 2020 CHANGE THE WAY YOU WORK?
Last year taught us that we need to be prepared for anything and to not take things for granted. We certainly appreciate all of the events and opportunities that we're now able to be a part of, especially after spending such a long time in lockdown. Since then, we always make sure that we have a solid back-up plan in place in case borders or restrictions change. It's taught us to become a lot more flexible and to no longer sweat the small stuff!
DO YOU THINK AUSSIES WILL MAKE MORE OF INTERSTATE TRAVEL?
Absolutely! Aussies now understand the importance of supporting our regional towns, especially because international tourism is on hold for the time being. We feel Aussies are keen to use this year as a time to explore our own backyard and to see what amazing places we have. We think everyone has a newfound appreciation for each other and want to do what they can to support fellow Aussies and holidaying regionally is a fantastic way to do that.
WHAT BENEFITS HAVE YOU FOUND FROM WORKING FROM HOME?
Dress code changes have helped - we certainly don’t miss having to wear heels so often! Avoiding Melbourne traffic has also been a huge win for the team. Overall, it’s much easier to achieve a healthy work life balance when working from home. However, we do miss being able to interact with our amazing colleagues face to face each day.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAY CONSIST OF WHEN WORKING FAR FROM HOME?
Each day is so different. We could be doing anything from visiting wineries and capturing content, to interviewing firefighters and seeking out new hidden local secrets to share. We're always on the lookout for new discoveries, which often leads us to the lesser-known corners of the country. It's here that we're able to connect with regional business owners who all have such amazing stories to tell. Overall, Working Far From Home is incredibly fun and rewarding. It's an experience we'll never take for granted – even when it's exhausting!
